TapLynx App Spotlight: Bricking News

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

LEGOs are awesome. Look in your heart, you know it’s true. The latest TapLynx-based app from our developer friend Ace Kim pulls together the latest news and events related to all things LEGO. The Brothers Brick, From Bricks To Bothans, Eurobricks, and Brickset are all included, keeping you up-to-date. The app also lets you search against the Brickset database (which includes over 7,000 sets) and takes you right to the Brickset page without leaving the app. Finally, the top LEGO groups on flickr are represented so you can browse through others’ amazing LEGO creations.

The app is $0.99 and you can view it in iTunes here.

The Arosa app combines Quark publishing capabilities with TapLynx

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

A little while ago we announced our partnership with Quark, and the first app created using QPS content and the TapLynx framework is live!

It is called the Arosa app, and it acts as a helpful companion to visitors of this gorgous winter resort (the app is in German BTW). It not only includes detailed information on events, winter sports, accomadations, and nightlife, but it also includes a resort map to help you navigate the area. The app is free and you can download it here.

The app was created by Adverma, an advertising and marketing firm based in Deutschland. You can view the original site in German here or you can see a translated version here. Or hey, why not learn some German? Deutsch lernen ist nicht schwer!

PsycExplorer: Content curation at its best

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Download PsycExplorer

The PsycExplorer app is a carefully assembled collection of news, research, and video relating to the field of psychology. I like that Michael Britt, the creator of the app, has put a lot of effort into curating the content for it. He uses NetNewsWire to select material from feeds, then he publishes them via Feeder. This expedited process helps Michael very easily get content to his users quickly.

This app is great for students and podcast enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about human behavior (I know I am, people are so crazy!)

Walter Tyree from Tyree Apps also contributed to PsycExplorer by building a search utility that filters content into custom feeds that are then put into NetNewsWire. Walter is one of our partners that you can content for assistance with your app: http://taplynx.com/about

In an era of information overload it’s nice to see apps that have focus and cater to their users: they provide a wealth of information without having to wade through noise. Oh, and one of the screencaps for the app shows a cross-section of brraaaaiiinns!

Glam Japan: TapLynx App Spotlight

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Our friends over at Glam Japan have been hard at work producing apps made with TapLynx. Their team has taken full advantage of the fact that TapLynx apps are localizable, and they’ve integrated content from the most popular fashion, beauty, and gossip bloggers for a rich experience for their users.

There are more apps to come, but already after only having been introduced to the framework a few months ago they’ve created three apps that really showcase both their skills and TapLynx’s flexibility.

UT Federal Credit Union: TapLynx App Spotlight

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

This app aggregates information from the UT Federal Credit Union website. They’ve integrated Twitter feeds and videos, but the coolest part about this app is the custom functionality that the developer included.

As you know, the TapLynx framework can be expanded to your liking using custom view controllers. What the UTFCU app lets you do is view branch location information, dial important banking numbers, and login to the UTFCU mobile banking site.

The developer, Brandon Ballentine, also posted about his experience using the framework: TapLynx – A Brief Review. As Brandon has demonstrated, using TapLynx can be a means to supplement your own dev work and save time creating apps.
